About City
ROME is the capital city of Italy. Rome also serves as the capital of the Lazio region, it is also the country's most populated comune. It is the fourth-most populous city in the European Union by population within city limits. It is the centre of the Metropolitan City of Rome. Rome is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula. The Vatican City is an independent country inside the city boundaries of Rome. It is also called as the eternal city because of its great beauty, contrast and life style.
Rome has the status of a global city. The city is one of the four fashion capitals of the world, which include Paris, London and New York. It is a sprawling, cosmopolitan city with nearly 3,000 years of globally influential art, architecture and culture on display. Monuments and museums such as the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum are among the world’s most visited tourist destinations with both locations receiving millions of tourists a year. Italy has a large and international network of public and state affiliated universities and schools offering degrees in higher education.
Rome has an extensive internal transport system and is one of the most important road, rail and air hubs in Italy. Rome has a widespread bus network, provided by ATAC. The buses are a reliable way to get around the city. April sees the weather significantly improve in Rome, as spring really begins to take hold. This is a great time of the year to visit, as the damp and chilly days of winter are long gone, but it never becomes uncomfortably hot, either.
